Mission Statement
South Sudan Women's Empowerment Newtwork, Inc. (SSWEN) is committed to empowering Southern Sudanese women to achieve economic development, social and gender justice, a healthy and peaceful community, and human rights for all through the tools of education, support, networking, and advocating for better services from statutory and non-statutory agencies.

Vision
SSWEN anticipates alleviating poverty, social distress and promoting women’s health, education and social inclusion in all levels. Every Southern Sudanese woman has a right to contribute to her community's development.

Goals
1) To promote leadership training for women to regain strength, stability and stature.
2) To offer women a safe space to discuss their social, economic and political rights where they will realize their value and their potential.
3) To build Women Skill Centers and offer job skills training for a sustainable future. Including access to capital to help women create and manage sustainable micro-enterprises.
4) To build a Women’s health center
5) To promote a Sponsorship Program, where we can offer a one-to-one connection between sponsors in the United States and women in South Sudan whose lives have been torn apart by war and conflict.
6) To offer scholarships for girls and boys from South Sudan.
7) To promote women’s education.

Objectives
The objectives of this organization are to promote, through appropriate activities and programs, the programs and principles of SSWEN which include the following short-term objectives for women in the diaspora:
1) Promote and disseminate information about employment and training opportunities (job training, trainings for trainers) for Southern Sudanese women in the diaspora;
2) Promote and disseminate information and advice on immigration, welfare benefits, housing, and health care and services to Southern Sudanese women in the diaspora;
3) Promote and disseminate information on educational opportunities for Southern Sudanese women in the diaspora (English as a Second Language (ESL) classes, higher educational opportunities such as GED, community colleges, universities, and the like);
4) Advocate for Southern Sudanese women and promote social awareness via: (a) trainings for trainers; (b) cultural activities that build solidarity; and (c) by encouraging greater participation of Southern Sudanese women in the diaspora.
5) Network with governmental and nongovernmental organizations and agencies and other social movements by (a) researching local, national, and international organizations, formal and informal groups, and movements who also seek to empower Sudanese women in Sudan and/or in the diaspora; and (b) building alliances across state and private affiliations.

SSWEN's Objectives relating to South Sudanese Women in Sudan
1) Research the situation for Southern Sudanese women in Sudan in regards to (a) educational opportunities or lack thereof; (b) employment opportunities or lack thereof; (c) prevalence and kinds of violence against women in Sudan; and (d) what Southern Sudanese women in Sudan feel to be their greatest challenges.
2) Promote and disseminate information about the development of employment and training programs for Southern Sudanese women in Sudan;
3) Promote educational opportunities for Southern Sudanese women in Sudan (building schools, higher educational opportunities, universities, and the like);
4) Advocate for Southern Sudanese women and promote social awareness via: (a) trainings for trainers; (b) activities that build solidarity across ethnic and tribal affiliations; and (c) by encouraging greater participation of Southern Sudanese women in the civil society sector and governmental programs.
5) Network with governmental and nongovernmental organizations and agencies and other social movements in Sudan by (a) researching local, national, and international organizations, formal and informal groups, and social movements that also seek to empower Sudanese women in Sudan; (b) building alliances with such organizations; (c) assisting with the development of more projects with Southern Sudanese women in Sudan; and (d) encouraging greater participation of Southern Sudanese women in the civil society sector of Sudan.
6) Establish a SSWEN branch office in South Sudan that will address the above objectives while maintaining contact with SSWEN headquarters in the United States.
